The Hard Rock Casino Rockford has had a successful year in 2023, with the temporary casino earning record-breaking revenue and achieving several milestones. Geno Iafrate, the President of Hard Rock Casino Rockford, expressed satisfaction with the results, noting that it was a year of achievements for the casino, including the launch of the Hard Rock Opening Act. While looking forward to the opening of the permanent casino, Iafrate also expressed mixed emotions about bidding farewell to the temporary venue.
In 2023, the Rockford Casino generated over $69 million in revenue, marking a 26% increase from the previous year. The Illinois Gaming Board also announced a monthly revenue record of $6.5 million in December. Additionally, table games were introduced in April, leading to the employment of over 350 new staff members. The temporary casino, which opened in November 2021, welcomed over a million guests from various locations, reflecting a 32% increase in the number of visitors in 2023 compared to 2022.
Despite the successful year, one of the plans for 2023, launching a sports book in Rockford, faced delays. The sports book is now expected to be launched at the beginning of 2024 after the Illinois Gaming Board issues a license. Looking ahead, the construction of the permanent casino resort is set to be completed in the summer of 2024. The new 65,000 square-foot facility will feature 1,300 slot machines, an advanced sports book, and 44 table games, catering to a wide range of gaming preferences. The casino will also include a poker room, the Hard Rock Café, and the Hard Rock Live event center, providing ample space for conferences and live concerts. It is expected that the new casino will employ approximately 400 new staff members.
The impressive growth and success of the Hard Rock Casino Rockford reflect positive developments for the gambling and entertainment industry in the region. With the upcoming launch of the sports book and the completion of the permanent casino resort, the casino looks set to continue its upward trajectory in the coming years.
