Rocky Mountain Gaming Expands with Acquisition of Cripple Creek Casinos

Rocky Mountain Gaming CC, LLC has finalized agreements to acquire the operating assets of Johnny Nolon’s Casino from Minter Holdings, LLC. In addition, G Investments LLC is in negotiations to acquire the Colorado Grande Casino, which is also operated by Minter Holdings LLC. The acquisition is pending approval from the Colorado Division of Gaming.

David J. Minter is currently overseeing the operations of both Colorado properties. Rocky Mountain Gaming is a US-based company founded and owned by David D. Ross, Michael J. Gaughan III, and Joseph J. Canfora. Before establishing the company, Ross and Gaughan worked together at various casinos and hotels for about 30 years.

Joseph J. Canfora, who has extensive experience in the gaming and hospitality industry, commented, “I was surprised when David and Michael first approached me with the opportunity to get back into the Cripple Creek market. After thinking about it, I realized that Johnny Nolon’s and Colorado Grande presented the opportunity to maintain the old Cripple Creek casino feel that the locals had grown accustomed to.”

David Ross believes that the Cripple Creek market has significant potential for growth, especially with the influx of new operators in the area. He sees an opportunity for their properties to offer a true locals experience that caters to individuals looking for loose slots and personal service.

Cripple Creek has a long history of gaming, and both Johnny Nolon’s Casino and Colorado Grande Casino are integral parts of it. Together, the two casinos have around 400 gaming devices and seven hotel rooms, along with Maggie’s Restaurant located at the Colorado Grande.

David J. Minter, the current owner of Johnny Nolon’s and the owner of the majority of stakes at Colorado Grande, expressed his pride in what he has accomplished at these two casinos over the years. He looks forward to seeing what Rocky Mountain Gaming CC will bring to these beloved casinos.

As it stands, the acquisition is awaiting final approval from the authorities and the issuance of the necessary license from the Colorado Division of Gaming. If successful, Rocky Mountain Gaming will add these historic casinos to its portfolio, marking a significant expansion for the company.
