PENN Ent. set to Break Ground on New Hotel on Nov. 28th

PENN Entertainment Inc. is planning to build a new hotel at the Hollywood Casino Columbus, and they are set to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for it on November 28 at 1 pm. The hotel, which is estimated to cost around $100 million, is expected to create hundreds of construction jobs and about 100 permanent positions once it opens. It will include meeting space, 180 rooms, a new restaurant, and other amenities.

Jay Snowden, the President and CEO of PENN Entertainment, expressed his excitement about the new hotel, stating, “We are thrilled to soon begin construction on a new, state-of-the-art hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus. Since opening in 2012, our Columbus property has experienced tremendous growth, and the addition of a hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus will create a true regional destination.” Rick Skinner, Vice President and General Manager of Hollywood Casino Columbus, also expressed his elation about the new project.

This new hotel is part of a larger expansion plan that includes the construction of new land-based casinos in Joliet, Illinois, and Aurora, as well as an additional hotel tower in Henderson, Nevada. The city of Aurora is set to secure $50 million in financing for its project, and Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. has pledged up to $575 million for a total budget of $850 million for all four expansion projects.

Hollywood Casino Columbus, which opened in 2012, features a large gambling floor, meeting space, nearby hotels, a sports bar, and five restaurants. The casino offers over 2,150 gaming machines, 79 gaming tables, and a 36-table poker room. It has been a popular destination for entertainment and gaming in Ohio.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new hotel is expected to be a major event for the company and the local community, as it marks the beginning of a significant new addition to the Hollywood Casino Columbus.
