MGM Resorts reveals its expansion plans for Empire City Casino in New York

MGM Resorts International is set to transform the Empire City Casino in Yonkers, New York into a luxury entertainment destination. The casino will be rebranded as MGM Empire City pending the acquisition of a commercial casino license.

The new plans for the casino include a complete redesign, with the first phase focusing on expanding the casino floor and entertainment venue to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors. The venue will also feature an advanced BetMGM sportsbook, as well as food and beverage outlets with offerings from famous chefs. Other amenities will include cocktail bars, lounges, meeting spaces, and a parking garage.

In addition to the expansion, the casino will transition from being a video lottery terminal racino to offering live-dealer table games, modern slot machines, and a high-limit gaming area. The goal is to create a world-class gaming experience for visitors, complete with A-list performers and events.

MGM Resorts’ investment in the Empire City Casino is expected to significantly boost the local economy by attracting both tourists and residents to the range of attractions the resort will offer. If the company secures a commercial license, they also plan to include The BetMGM Sportsbook & Lounge, which will feature a 112-foot wrap-around LED screen, stadium seating, VIP areas, betting kiosks, and various dining options.

MGM Resorts President and CEO, Bill Hornbuckle, expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing the company’s dedication to delivering unparalleled entertainment and gaming experiences. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano also voiced his enthusiasm for the development, highlighting the thousands of union jobs and economic growth the project will bring to the city.

Overall, the transformation of the Empire City Casino into MGM Empire City is expected to solidify its status as a premier entertainment destination, drawing millions of guests annually and creating a lasting impact on the city for years to come.
