Hollywood Casino Grantville Welcomes the Return of Live Poker Games

Live poker will return to Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in 2024. The vice president and general manager of operations at Hollywood Casino’s Pennsylvania venues, Tony Frabbiele, confirmed that live poker will officially come back to the casino during the 1st or early 2nd quarter of 2024. The decision to bring back live poker was made due to popular demand from players.

The Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course had not reopened its poker room since the COVID-19 shutdown in March 2020, disappointing many players. However, the casino has now announced plans to set up an unspecified number of poker tables near the entrance to the sportsbook, where the restaurant and bar are located. The designated space currently features electronic table games (ETGs), but the casino is working to change this and accommodate live poker.

The next step is for PENN Entertainment to file a request with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) to officially add live poker to its existing offerings. The casino is preparing to offer live Texas Hold’em poker with different cash prizes on Fridays to Sundays, with specific opening hours to be determined based on demand.

The addition of live poker will also require an increase in the number of employees, as dealers are currently being trained and hired to handle the live poker games. The casino executives hope that adding live poker next to the sportsbook will generate excitement at the property, as well as complement the horse racing terminals, food, and beverage offerings.

In addition to Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, live poker will also be launched at the Hollywood Casino Morgantown area. However, Hollywood Casino York will not be able to add live poker due to limited space. As for the old poker room in Grantville, it is currently bricked up but may be part of the property’s future plans.

The casino is also working on revitalizing the shuttered restaurant on the third floor, which was previously a Tattered Flag Brewery. It will soon be used as a Taylor Swift-themed pop-up bar for Valentine’s Day and may host other themed events in the future.

Overall, the return of live poker to Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course is expected to bring renewed excitement and engagement to the casino property.
