Cordish Companies Breaks Ground on $270M Live! Casino Development in Bossier, Louisiana
The Cordish Companies has received unanimous approval from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board to become a licensed casino operator in Bossier City, Louisiana. This approval has paved the way for the company to embark on a $270 million transformation project that will see the development of the Live! Casino, an extravagant gambling, event, and entertainment resort.
Jon Cordish, a principal with The Cordish Companies, believes that the project will bring a new level of quality and energy to the area. He stated, “It’s going to have a quality and energy that when you walk into this property you’ll feel like you’re in a premier casino and resort in the top gaming markets, including Las Vegas.” Cordish is confident that the Live! Casino will set a new standard in the market and be a game-changing development.
The development will also bring a wide range of amenities to the area, including a Sports & Social sports bar and restaurant featuring James Beard Award nominee Chef John Suley, as well as the PBR Cowboy Bar. The project is also expected to have a positive impact on the local community, providing 750 construction jobs and 750 permanent jobs.
The Cordish Companies is a century-old family-owned company with headquarters in Baltimore and a network of operations in gaming, entertainment, and real estate. The company’s “Live!” entertainment brand is present in major US markets and the Bossier project adds to their other developments, including the Texas! Live project in Arlington, which is valued at $1 billion.
Local officials in Bossier have welcomed the transformation project, with Mayor Thomas Chandler noting that it represents “the largest venture that has happened in our area in a long time.” State Rep. Sam Jenkins also highlighted the transformational job opportunities that will be brought by the project.
The project is significant as it will be the first land-based casino in the Shreveport-Bossier market. Cordish has already dismantled the old riverboat casino to make way for construction. There are high expectations for the development, with the company aiming to open the first-class Live! Casino in early 2025.
The project has received praise from Louisiana Gaming Commission Chairman Ronnie Johns, who commented, “There’s no doubt the gaming market in Shreveport-Bossier has a bright future. To see this happening today is incredible.” The development is seen as a great bet on a great city, an investment that will have a significant positive impact on the area.
